Motivated by a collection of experimental results indicating the strongly correlated nature of the ferromagnetic metallic state of $CrO_{2}$, we present results based on a combination of the actual bandstructure [3] with dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) for the multi-orbital case. In striking contrast with LSDA(+U) [3] and model many-body approaches [14], much better semiquantitative agreement with (i) recent photoemission results, (ii) domain of applicability of the half-m...

We studied the electronic structure of the Kondo lattice system Ce2Co0.8Si3.2 by angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). The spectra obtained below the coherence temperature consist of a Kondo resonance, its spin-orbit partner and a number of dispersing bands. The quasiparticle weight related to the Kondo peak depends strongly on Fermi vectors associated with bulk bands. This indicates a highly anisotropic hybridization between conduction band and 4f electrons - V_...

Here we present the first large scale investigation of electronic properties and correlated magnetism in Ce-based compounds accompanied by a systematic study of the electronic structure and 4f-hybridization function of a large body of Ce compounds. We systematically study the electronic structure and 4f-hybridization function of a large body of Ce compounds with the goal of elucidating the nature of the 4f states and their interrelation with the measured Kondo energy in these...

The low energy region of certain transition metal compounds reveals dramatic correlation effects between electrons, which can be studied by photoelectron spectroscopy. Theoretical investigations are often based on multi-orbital impurity models, which reveal modified versions of the Kondo effect. We present a systematic study of a multi-orbital Anderson-like model, based on a new semi-analytical impurity solver which goes beyond simple modifications of the well known NCA. We d...

We study the antiferromagnetic phase of the Kondo lattice model on bipartite lattices at half-filling using the dynamical mean-field theory with numerical renormalization group as the impurity solver, focusing on the detailed structure of the spectral function, self-energy, and optical conductivity. We discuss the deviations from the simple hybridization picture, which adequately describes the overall band structure of the system (four quasiparticle branches in the reduced Br...

We calculate the dynamical spin response of Kondo impurity and Kondo lattice systems within a semiphenomenological Fermi liquid description, at low temperatures $T<T_K$, the Kondo temperature, and low magnetic fields $B \ll k_B T_K/g\mu_B$. Fermi liquid parameters are determined by comparison (i) with microscopic theory (numerical renormalization group) for the impurity model and (ii) with experiment for the lattice model. We find in the impurity case that the true impurity s...

The LDA+DMFT approach merges conventional band structure theory in the local density approximation (LDA) with a state-of-the-art many-body technique, the dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT). This new computational scheme has recently become a powerful tool for ab initio investigations of real materials with strong electronic correlations. In this paper an introduction to the basic ideas and the set-up of the LDA+DMFT approach is given. Results for the photoemission spectra of ...

The electronic structure of the Kondo lattice CeIn3 has been studied by on-resonant angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy. A weakly dispersive quasiparticle band has been observed directly with an energy dispersion of 4 meV by photoemission, implying the existence of weak hybridization between the f electrons and conduction electrons. The hybridization is further confirmed by the formation of the hybridization gap revealed by...

We solve the $S=1/2$ Kondo lattice model within the dynamical mean field theory. Detailed predictions are made for the dependence of the lattice Kondo resonance and the conduction electron spectral density on temperature and band filling $n_{c}$. Two low-energy scales are identified in the spectra: a renormalized hybridization pseudogap scale $T^{*}$, which correlates with the single-ion Kondo scale, and a lattice Kondo scale $T_{0} < T^{*}$, which acts as the Fermi-liquid co...

We investigate the electronic structure of an antiferromagnetic Kondo lattice system CeAgAs2 employing hard x-ray photoemission spectroscopy. CeAgAs2, an orthorhombic variant of HfCuSi2 structure, exhibits antiferromagnetic ground state, Kondo like resistivity upturn and compensation of magnetic moments at low temperatures. The photoemission spectra obtained at different photon energies suggest termination of the cleaved surface at cis-trans-As layers. The depth-resolved data...
