In the quest to find quantum spin liquids, layered cobalt oxides Na2Co2TeO6 and Na3Co2SbO6 have been proposed as promising candidates for approximating the Kitaev honeycomb model. Yet, their suitability has been thrown into question due to observed long-range magnetic order at low temperatures and indications of easy-plane, rather than Kitaev-type, spin anisotropy. Here we use muon spin relaxation to reveal an unexpected picture: contrary to the anticipated static nature of t...

This paper reports muon spin relaxation (MuSR) measurements of two single crystals of the title high-Tc cuprate systems where static incommensurate magnetism and superconductivity coexist. By zero-field MuSR measurements and subsequent analyses with simulations, we show that (1) the maximum ordered Cu moment size (0.36 Bohr magneton) and local spin structure are identical to those in prototypical stripe spin systems with the 1/8 hole concentration; (2) the static magnetism is...

Existing data on Cu-nuclear spin relaxation reveal two independent relaxation processes: the one that is temperature independent we link to incommensurate peaks seen by neutrons, while the ''universal'' temperature dependent contribution coincides with 1/{63}^T_{1}(T) for two-chain YBCO 124. We argue that this new result substitutes for a ''pseudogap'' regime in a broad class of high-T_c cuprates and stems from the 1st order phase transition that starts well above the superco...

We reply to the objections raised in a recent Comment (arXiv:1706.03023) regarding our observation of slow magnetic fluctuations and critical slowing down of magnetic fluctuations in the pseudogap phase of YBa$_2$Cu$_3$O$_y$ by zero-field and longitudinal-field muon spin relaxation (arXiv:1703.06799).

Fluctuation dynamics in magnetization plateaux are a relatively poorly explored area in frustrated magnetism. Here we use muon spin relaxation to determine the fluctuation timescale and associated field distribution width in the partial magnetization plateau of Ca3Co2O6. The muon spin relaxation rate has a simple and characteristic field dependence which we model and by fitting to the data at 15 K extract a fluctuation timescale tau = 880(30) ps and a field distribution width...

We report the results of muon-spin relaxation measurements on the low-dimensional antiferromagnet Rb4Cu(MoO4)3. No long-range magnetic order is observed down to 50 mK implying a ratio T_N/J<0.005 (where J is the principal exchange strength along the spin chains) and an effective ratio of interchain to intrachain exchange of |J_perp/J|<2 x 10^-3, making the material an excellent realization of a one-dimensional quantum Heisenberg antiferromagnet. We probe the persistent spin e...

We have examined the magnetic properties of superconducting YBa_2(Cu_0.96Co_0.04)_3O_y (y ~ 7, T_sc = 65 K) using elastic neutron scattering and muon spin relaxation (muSR) on single crystal samples. The elastic neutron scattering measurements evidence magnetic reflections which correspond to a commensurate antiferromagnetic Cu(2) magnetic structure with an associated Neel temperature T_N ~ 400 K. This magnetically correlated state is not evidenced by the muSR measurements. W...

The magnetic phase diagram in a single crystal of copper metaborate CuB_2O_4 in a magnetic field parallel to a tetragonal axis $c$ has been investigated. From the resonant, magnetic and magnetostrictive data the phase diagram of CuB_2O_4 on a plane ``temperature - magnetic field'' is constructed. The magnetic incommensurate-commensurate phase transition is caused by the saturation of weak subsystem of copper ions in the strong magnetic field $H\|c$.

We report low temperature muon spin relaxation (muSR) measurements of the high-transition-temperature (Tc) cuprate superconductors Bi{2+x}Sr{2-x}CaCu2O{8+\delta} and YBa2Cu3O6.57, aimed at detecting the mysterious intra-unit cell (IUC) magnetic order that has been observed by spin polarized neutron scattering in the pseudogap phase of four different cuprate families. A lack of confirmation by local magnetic probe methods has raised the possibility that the magnetic order fluc...

We report magnetization, electron spin resonance (ESR), and muon spin relaxation ($\mu $SR) measurements on single crystals of the $S=1/2$ (Cu$% ^{+2}$) kagom\'{e} compound Cu(1,3-benzendicarboxylate). The $\mu $SR is carried to temperatures as low as 45 mK. The spin Hamiltonian parameters are determined from the analysis of the magnetization and ESR data. We find that this compound has anisotropic ferromagnetic interactions. Nevertheless, no spin freezing is observed even at...
