At forward angles, the cross-sections of photoproduction of vector mesons ($\rho$, $\omega$, and $\phi$) are well accounted for by the exchange of the Pomeron at high energies, while contributions of $t$ channel exchange of Reggeons are significant at low energies. At large angles, the impact parameter becomes small enough to prevent their constituents to build up the exchanged Reggeons or Pomeron. Two gluon exchange appears to dominate above $-t\simeq 1$ GeV$^2$, especially ...

High-statistics measurements of differential cross sections and spin density matrix elements for the reaction $\gamma p \to \phi p$ have been made using the CLAS detector at Jefferson Lab. We cover center-of-mass energies ($\sqrt{s}$) from 1.97 to 2.84 GeV, with an extensive coverage in the $\phi$ production angle. The high statistics of the data sample made it necessary to carefully account for the interplay between the $\phi$ natural lineshape and effects of the detector re...

We present predictions for differential cross sections for the reaction $\gamma p \to \Phi p$ and give an outlook to which extent our calculations may be generalized to the photoproduction of $J/\Psi$ mesons. Our results are obtained within perturbative QCD treating the proton as a quark-diquark system.

We investigate $\phi$-meson electroproduction off the proton target, i.e., $\gamma^* p \to \phi p$, by employing a tree-level effective Lagrangian approach in the kinematical ranges of $Q^2$ = (0$-$4) $\mathrm{GeV}^2$, $W$ = (2$-$5) GeV, and $|t| \leq 2\,\mathrm{GeV}^2$. In addition to the universally accepted Pomeron exchange, we consider various meson exchanges in the $t$ channel with the Regge method. Direct $\phi$-meson radiations in the $s$- and $u$-channels are also tak...

The cross section for coherent $\omega$-meson photoproduction off the deuteron has been measured for the first time as a function of the momentum transfer $t = (P_{\gamma}-P_{\omega})^2$ and photon energy $E_{\gamma}$ using the CLAS detector at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. The cross sections are measured in the energy range $1.4 < E_{\gamma} < 3.4$ GeV. A model based on $\omega-N$ rescattering is consistent with the data at low and intermediate momentum...

A study has been performed of the reaction pbar p -> 4K using in-flight antiprotons from 1.1 to 2.0 GeV/c incident momentum interacting with a hydrogen jet target. The reaction is dominated by the production of a pair of phi mesons. The pbar p -> phi phi cross section rises sharply above threshold and then falls continuously as a function of increasing antiproton momentum. The overall magnitude of the cross section exceeds expectations from a simple application of the OZI rul...

We examine the non-diffractive mechanisms in the $\phi$ meson photoproduction from threshold up to a few GeV using an effective Lagrangian in a constituent quark model. The new data from CLAS at large angles can be consistently accounted for in terms of {\it s}- and {\it u}-channel processes. Isotopic effects arising from the reactions $\gamma p\to \phi p$ and $\gamma n\to \phi n$, are investigated by comparing the cross sections and polarized beam asymmetries. Our result hig...

The PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has measured the differential cross section of $\phi$(1020)-meson production at forward rapidity in $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=$510 GeV via the dimuon decay channel. The partial cross section in the rapidity and $p_T$ ranges $1.2<|y|<2.2$ and $2<p_T<7$ GeV/$c$ is $\sigma_\phi=[2.28 \pm 0.09\,{\rm (stat)} \pm 0.14\,{\rm (syst)} \pm 0.27\, {\rm (norm)}] \times 10^{-2}$~mb. The energy dependence of $\sigma_\phi$...

We investigate the possibility that the process of phi photoproduction may have a significant hard perturbative QCD component. This suggestion is based on a study of the energy dependence of the forward phi photoproduction cross section followed by a calculation where we show that a coherent sum of the pQCD and conventional soft Pomeron contributions provides an excellent reproduction of the experimental data. Our results suggest that the transition from the predominantly sof...

The proton-dissociative diffractive photoproduction of J/psi mesons has been studied in ep collisions with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 112 pb^-1. The cross section is presented as a function of the photon-proton centre-of-mass energy and of the squared four-momentum transfer at the proton vertex. The results are compared to perturbative QCD calculations.
