New parameter free calculations including a variety of necessary kinematic and dynamic effects show that the results of BNL $(p,2p)$ measurements are consistent with the expectations of color transparency.

We address the issue of nuclear attenuation in nucleon and pion knockout reactions. A selection of results from a model based on a relativistic multiple-scattering approximation is presented. We show transparency calculations for pion electroproduction on several nuclei, where data are in very good agreement with calculations including color transparency. Secondly, we discuss the density dependence of reactions involving one or double proton knockout. The latter reaction succ...

The standard first-order inelastic correction (IC) well known in the pre-QCD era, causes a rising $Q^2$-dependence of nuclear transparency in the quasielastic electron scattering, $A(e,e'p)A'$, at moderate $Q^2$, similar to what is supposed to be the onset of color transparency (CT). Although IC is a part of the whole pattern of CT, it contains no explicit QCD dynamics. Evaluation of this correction is based on experimental data on diffraction dissociation and is independent ...

This paper presents, for the first time, measurements of neutron transparency ratios for nuclei relative to C measured using the (e,e'n) reaction, spanning measured neutron momenta of 1.4 to 2.4 GeV/c. The transparency ratios were extracted in two kinematical regions, corresponding to knockout of mean-field nucleons and to the breakup of Short-Range Correlated nucleon pairs. The extracted neutron transparency ratios are consistent with each other for the two measured kinemati...

Color Transparency studies have been since long suggested as a means to study the occurrence and relevance of small size hadronic configurations, predicted within QCD to dominate exclusive scattering processes, by monitoring the passage of hadrons through the nuclear medium at large four momentum transfer, $Q^2$. The validation through experiments of this picture -- the dominance of short separation components -- is however not straightforward. This situation motivated us to ...

The Glauber approximation is used to calculate the contribution of nucleon correlations in high-energy $A(e,e'N)$ reactions. When the excitation energy of the residual nucleus is small, the increase of the nuclear transparency due to correlations between the struck nucleon and the other nucleons is mostly compensated by a decrease of the transparency due to the correlations between non detected nucleons. We derive Glauber model predictions for nuclear transparency for the dif...

We summarize the results of two experimental programs at the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron of BNL to measure the nuclear transparency of nuclei measured in the A(p,2p) quasielastic scattering process near 90 Deg .in the pp center of mass. The incident momenta varied from 5.9 to 14.4 GeV/c, corresponding to 4.8 < Q^2 < 12.7 (GeV/c)^2. First, we describe the measurements with the newer experiment, E850, which had more complete kinematic definition of quasielastic events. In ...

The dynamics of nuclear transparency in hard nuclear reactions is studied by an expansion of the correlator of the hard scattering operator on a hadronic basis. Colour transparency appears as an effect of interference between the amplitudes corresponding to the final state interaction of different intermediate baryonic states. We find that colour transparency occurs even at moderate momentum transfers if one chooses the missing momentum of the struck nucleon by appropriate ki...

We study the electroproduction of rho mesons in nuclei at intermediate energies, deriving a treatment of the energy lost by the rho in each step of multiple-scattering. This enables a close match between calculations and the experimental kinematic conditions. A standard Glauber calculation is presented, and then the effects of color-transparency are included. The influence of poor experimental resolution on the extracted transparency is assessed. The effects of $\rho$ meson d...

The nuclear transparency of the charged hadron produced in the inclusive $(e,e^\prime)$ reaction on the nucleus has been calculated using Glauber model for the nuclear reaction. The color transparency (CT) of the produced hadron and the short-range correlation (SRC) of the nucleons in the nucleus have been incorporated in the Glauber model to investigate their effects on the nuclear transparency of the hadron. The calculated nuclear transparencies for the proton and pion are ...
