We present a Monte-Carlo program for the simulation of polarized deep inelastic scattering at next-to-leading order in QCD matched to parton shower programs building on an existing implementation of the unpolarized case in the POWHEG BOX package. We discuss extensions of the POWHEG BOX framework necessary to account for polarized initial states and validate the code by detailed comparisons to existing fixed-order results. We then use the new tool to make predictions for the u...

An updated next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD analysis of all presently available longitudinally polarized deep-inelastic scattering (DIS) data is presented in the framework of the radiative parton model.

Parton distributions are constructed in a statistical physical picture of the nucleon. The chiral properties of QCD lead to strong relations between quarks and antiquarks distributions and the importance of the Pauli exclusion principle is also emphasized. A global next-to-leading order QCD analysis of unpolarized and polarized deep-inelastic scattering data is performed to determine a small number of free parameters. Some predictions are compared to recent experimental resul...

We recall the physical features of the parton distributions in the quantum statistical approach of the nucleon, which allows to describe simultaneously, unpolarized and polarized Deep Inelastic Scattering data. Some predictions from a next-to-leading order QCD analysis are compared to recent experimental results and we stress the importance of some tests in the high-$x$ region, to confirm the validity of this approach.

A brief review on the status of unpolarized parton densities and the determination of the QCD scale $\Lambda_{\rm QCD}$ from deep-inelastic scattering data is presented.

The problem of our understanding of the spin structure of the nucleon has been with us since the publication of the EMC measurements of the polarised structure function of the proton in 1987. In this talk a review of the results presented in Working Group 6 at this workshop is given.

An updated next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD analysis of the spin asymmetries A_1^N(x,Q^2) and parton distributions delta f(x,Q^2) in longitudinally polarized deep-inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering is presented within the framework of the radiative parton model taking into account recent experimental results. The theoretical framework and the main features of the radiative parton model analysis are briefly reviewed. The small-x behaviour of the polarized structure function g_...

Polarized semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering (SIDIS) is a key process in the quest for a resolution of the proton spin puzzle. We present the complete results for the polarized SIDIS process at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in perturbative quantum chromodynamics. Our analytical results include all partonic channels for the scattering of polarized leptons off hadrons and a spin-averaged hadron identified in the final state. A numerical analysis of the NNLO correct...

Collider data can play an important role in determining the parton distribution functions of the nucleon. I present a formalism which makes it possible to use next-to-leading order calculations in such a determination, while minimizing the amount of numerical computation required.

Collider data can play an important role in determining the parton distribution functions of the nucleon. I outline a formalism which makes it possible to use next-to-leading order calculations in such an extraction, while minimizing the amount of numerical computation required.
