The constraints imposed by chiral symmetry on hadron correlation functions in nuclear medium are discussed. It is shown that these constraints imply some structure of the in-medium hadron correlators, lead to the cancellation of the order $\rho m_\pi$ term in the in-medium nucleon correlator and result in the effect of mixing of the chiral partners correlators, reflecting the phenomena of partial restoration of chiral symmetry. The different scenarios of such restorations are...

Given existing empirical spectral patterns of excited hadrons it has been suggested that chiral symmetry is approximately restored in excited hadrons at zero temperature/density (effective symmetry restoration). If correct, this implies that mass generation mechanisms and physics in excited hadrons is very different as compared to the lowest states. One needs an alternative and independent experimental information to confirm this conjecture. Using very general chiral symmetry...

Recent developments for chiral and $U(1)_A$ restorations in excited hadrons are reviewed. We emphasize predictions of the chiral symmetry restoration scenario for axial charges and couplings to Goldstone bosons. Using very general chiral symmetry arguments it is shown that strict chiral restoration in a given excited nucleon forbids its decay into the $N \pi$ channel. We confront this prediction with the $N^*N\pi$ coupling constants extracted from the decay widths and observe...

Some aspects of two recent papers on parity doubling in the hadronic spectrum and its relation to restoration of linearly realized chiral symmetry are critically discussed.

We survey some prospects of identifying further in-medium modifications of hadrons in a strongly interacting medium with respect to ongoing experiment series of the HADES Collaboration and planned experiments of the CBM Collaboration at FAIR. Di-electrons, strange and charm mesons are considered and their potential for signaling imprints of chiral restoration is highlighted.

Restoration of chiral and $U(1)_A$ symmetries in excited hadrons is reviewed. Implications of the OPE as well as of the semiclassical expansion for this phenomenon are discussed. A solvable model of the 't Hooft type in 3+1 dimensions is presented, which demonstrates a fast restoration of both chiral and $U(1)_A$ symmetries at larger spins and radial excitations.

The effective restoration of $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R$ and $U(1)_A$ chiral symmetries of QCD in excited hadrons is reviewed. While the low-lying hadron spectrum is mostly shaped by the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry, in the high-lying hadrons the role of the quark condensate of the vacuum becomes negligible and the chiral symmetry is effectively restored. This implies that the mass generation mechanisms in the low- and high-lying hadrons are essentially different. The...

It is shown that in the large $N_c$ limit the light baryon spectrum exhibits the chiral restoration phase transition at high enough excitation energy. Such a phase transition is evidenced by the systematical parity doublets observed in the upper part of $N$ and $\Delta$ spectra.

It is shown that an enhancement in the spectral function near 2$m_{\pi}$ threshold in the I=J=0 channel is a good signal of the partial restoration of chiral symmetry in nuclear medium. Several experiments are discussed to detect the enhancement, which uses hadron-nucleus and photo-nucleus reactions.
