In order to reveal possible mass shifts of the vector mesons in a dense strongly interacting medium presumably created in high energy heavy ion collisions it is necessary to know their free masses reliably. The rho(770) mass quoted in the last two editions of the Review of Particle Physics is significantly larger than the values quoted in previous editions. The new value is mostly influenced by the results of recent experiments CMD-2 and SND at the VEPP-2M e+e- collider at No...

A model is developed for electromagnetic form factor of the pion. One-loop corrections are included in the linear sigma-model. The rho-meson contribution is added in an extended VMD model. The form factor, calculated without fitting parameters, is in a good agreement with experiment for space-like and time-like photon momenta. Loop corrections to the two-pion hadronic contribution a^{(had, \pi)}_\mu to the muon anomalous magnetic moment are calculated. The optimal value of th...

Exploiting a set of generalized parton distributions (GPDs) derived from analyses of hard exclusive leptoproduction of rho0, phi and pi+ mesons, we investigate the omega spin density matrix elements (SDMEs) recently measured by the HERMES collaboration. It turns out from our study that the pion pole is an important contribution to omega production. It will be treated as a one-particle exchange since its evaluation from the GPD E-tilde considerably underestimates its contribut...

We determine the value of the \omega -\rho- \pi mesons coupling (g_{\omega\rho\pi}), in the context of the vector meson dominance model, from radiative decays, the \omega \rightarrow 3\pi decay width and the e^+e^- \rightarrow 3\pi cross section. For the last two observables we consider the effect of either a heavier resonance (\rho'(1450)) or a contact term. A weighted average of the results from the set of observables yields g_{\omega\rho\pi} =14.7 \pm 0.1 GeV^{-1} in absen...

We study a model-independent parameterization of the vector pion form factor that arises from the constraints of analyticity and unitarity. Our description should be suitable up to sqrt(s) ~ 1.2 GeV and allows a model-independent determination of the mass of the rho(770) resonance, M(rho) = (775.1 +- 0.5) MeV. We analyse the experimental data on tau(-) -> pion(-) pion(0) neutrino(tau), in this framework, and its consequences on the low-energy observables worked out by chiral ...

The assumption that vector mesons dominate the interactions of hadrons with electromagnetism (vector-meson dominance - VMD) provides an important phenomenological concept. On the other hand, a clear microscopic derivation is still missing and there are cases where VMD drastically fails, e.g. for the omega transition form factor. In principle, effective field theories with their systematic expansion and power counting could provide a tool to assess the validity of VMD and more...

The study on $\rho-\omega$ mixing is mainly focused on vector mesons decay with isospin I=1, namely $\rho(\omega)\to\pi^+\pi^-$ process. In this paper, we present the study of $\rho-\omega$ mixing in $\rho(\omega)\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$ (I=0) using a flavor parameterization model for $J/\psi\to VP$ process. By fitting theoretical frame to PDG data, we obtain the SU(3)-breaking effect parameters $s_V=0.03\pm 0.12,\ s_P=0.17\pm 0.17$ and the $\rho-\omega$ mixing polarization operat...

A new formula for the pion form factor F_pi is proposed which takes into account the pseudoscalar meson loops and the mixing among rho(770), rho(1450), and rho(1700). The expression possesses correct analytical properties and can be used in both timelike and spacelike kinematical regions. The comparison is made with the existing experimental data on F_pi collected by the detectors SND, CMD-2, KLOE, and BaBaR restricted to energies below 1 GeV. A good description of all four d...

We examine the quark mass dependence of the pion vector form factor, particularly the curvature (mean quartic radius). We focus our study on the consequences of assuming that the coupling constant of the rho to pions is largely independent of the quark mass while the quark mass dependence of the rho--mass is given by recent lattice data. By employing the Omnes representation we can provide a very clean estimate for a certain combination of the curvature and the square radius,...

An exploratory study of the time-like pion electromagnetic form factor in a Poincar\'e-covariant bound state formalism in the isospin symmetric limit is presented. Starting from a quark interaction kernel representing gluon-intermediated interactions for valence-type quarks, non-valence effects are included by introducing pions as explicit degrees of freedom. The two most important qualitative aspects are, in view of the presented study, the opening of the dominant $\rho$-mes...
