We construct analytically a new family of supersymmetric AdS$_4$ solutions of IIB supergravity, with the internal space provided by a deformed $S^5\times S^1$. The solutions preserve N=1 supersymmetry and an SO(3) subgroup of isometries of $S^5$, which is broken to U(1) along a flat direction. They are further parametrised by a winding number and a choice of SL(2) duality twist along the circle in an elliptic conjugacy class, thus including both globally geometric and S-fold ...

We present a large class of new backgrounds that are solutions of type II supergravity with a warped AdS${}_4$ factor, non-trivial axion-dilaton, B-field, and three- and five-form Ramond-Ramond fluxes. We obtain these solutions by applying non-Abelian T-dualities with respect to SU(2) or SU(2)/U(1) isometries to reductions to 10d IIA of 11d sugra solutions of the form AdS${}_4 \times Y^7$, with $Y^7 = S^7/\mathbb{Z}_k, S^7, M^{1,1,1}, Q^{1,1,1}$ and $N(1,1)$. The main class o...

We construct infinite new classes of supersymmetric solutions of D=11 supergravity that are warped products of AdS_3 with an eight-dimensional manifold M_8 and have non-vanishing four-form flux. In order to be compact, M_8 is constructed as an S^2 bundle over a six-dimensional manifold B_6 which is either K\"ahler-Einstein or a product of K\"ahler-Einstein spaces. In the special cases that B_6 contains a two-torus, we also obtain new AdS_3 solutions of type IIB supergravity, ...

N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with gauge group SU(n) (n>=3) is believed to have two exactly marginal deformations which break the supersymmetry to N=1. We discuss the construction of the string theory dual to these deformations, in the supergravity approximation, in a perturbation series around the AdS_5 * S^5 solution. We construct explicitly the deformed solution at second order in the deformation. We show that deformations which are marginal but not exactly marginal...

We study a large class of supersymmetric solutions in four-dimensional $N=5$ gauged supergravity with $SO(5)$ gauge group. There is only one $N=5$ supersymmetric $AdS_4$ vacuum preserving the full $SO(5)$ symmetry dual to an $N=5$ SCFT in three dimensions. We give a number of domain walls interpolating between this $AdS_4$ fixed point and singular geometries in the IR with $SO(4)$ and $SO(3)$ symmetries. These solutions describe RG flows from the $N=5$ SCFT to non-conformal f...

In this work we study ten-dimensional solutions to type IIA string theory of the form AdS$_4$ x $X_6$ which contain orientifold planes and preserve N=1 supersymmetry. In particular, we consider solutions which exhibit some key features of the four-dimensional DGKT proposal for compactifications on Calabi-Yau manifolds with fluxes, and in this sense may be considered their ten-dimensional uplifts. We focus on the supersymmetry equations and Bianchi identities, and find solutio...

We first present a short review of general supersymmetric compactifications in string and M-theory using the language of G-structures and intrinsic torsion. We then summarize recent work on the generic conditions for supersymmetric AdS_5 backgrounds in M-theory and the construction of classes of new solutions. Turning to AdS_5 compactifications in type IIB, we summarize the construction of an infinite class of new Sasaki-Einstein manifolds in dimension 2k+3 given a positive c...

We investigate the existence of solutions with 16 supersymmetries to Type IIB supergravity on a spacetime of the form $AdS_{2}\times S^{5}\times S^{1}$ warped over a two-dimensional Riemann surface $\Sigma$. The existence of the Lie superalgebra $SU(1,1|4) \subset PSU(2,2|4)$, whose maximal bosonic subalgebra is $SO(2,1)\oplus SO(6)\oplus SO(2)$, motivates the search for half-BPS solutions with this isometry that are asymptotic to $AdS_{5} \times S^{5}$. We reduce the BPS equ...

We construct supersymmetric domain wall solutions of type IIB supergravity that interpolate between $AdS_5\times T^{1,1}$ in the UV and $AdS_3\times\mathbb{R}^2\times S^2\times S^3$ solutions in the IR. The $\mathbb{R}^2$ factor can be replaced with a two-torus and then the solution describes a supersymmetric flow across dimensions, similar to wrapped brane solutions. While the domain wall solutions preserve $(0,2)$ supersymmetry, the $AdS_3$ solutions in the IR have an enhan...
