We employ an $SU(2)$ bulk Higgs doublet as the stabilization field in Randall-Sundrum model with appropriate bulk and brane-localized potentials. The gauge hierarchy problem can be solved for an exponentially IR-localized Higgs background field with mild values of fundamental parameters of the 5D theory. We consider an IR-UV-IR background geometry with the 5D SM fields in the bulk such that all the fields have even and odd tower of KK-modes. The zero-mode 4D effective theory ...

The stability of the modular field in a warped brane world scenario has been a subject of interest for a long time. Goldberger \& Wise ( GW ) proposed a mechanism to achieve this by invoking a massive scalar field in the bulk space-time neglecting the back-reaction. In this work, we examine the possibility of stabilizing the modulus without bringing in any external scalar field. We show that instead of flat 3-branes as considered in Randall-Sundrum ( RS ) warped braneworld mo...

We discuss physical implications of the four-dimensional effective supergravity, that describes low-energy physics of the Randall--Sundrum model with moduli fields in the bulk and charged chiral matter living on the branes. Cosmological constant can be cancelled through the introduction of a brane Polonyi field and a brane superpotential for the 4d dilaton. We deduce a generalization of the effective 4d action to the case of a general, not necessarily exponential, warp factor...

In the context of higher dimensional braneworld scenario, the stabilisation of extra dimensional modulus is an essential requirement for resolving the gauge hierarchy problem in the context of Standard Model of elementary particle Physics. For Randall-Sundrum (RS) warped extra dimensional model, Goldberger and Wise (GW) proposed a much useful mechanism to achieve this using a scalar field in the bulk spacetime ignoring the effects of backreaction of the scalar field on the ba...

In brane world scenarios with a bulk scalar field between two branes it is known that 4-dimensional Einstein gravity is restored at low energies on either brane. By using a gauge-invariant gravitational and scalar perturbation formalism we extend the theory of weak gravity in the brane world scenarios to higher energies, or shorter distances. We argue that weak gravity on either brane is indistinguishable from 4-dimensional higher derivative gravity, provided that the inter-b...

We study radius stabilization in the Randall-Sundrum model without assuming any unnaturally large stabilizing scalar potential parameter at the boundary branes ($\gamma$) by the frequently used superpotential method. Employing a perturbative expansion in $1/\gamma^2$ and the backreaction parameter, we obtain approximate analytical expressions for the radion mass and wavefunction. We validate them through a dedicated numerical analysis, which solves the linearized coupled scal...

We consider the cosmology and hierarchy of scales in models with branes immersed in a five-dimensional curved spacetime subject to radion stabilization. The universe naturally find itself in the radiation-dominated epoch when the inter-brane spacing is static and stable, independent of the form of the stabilizing potential. We recover the standard Friedmann equations without assuming a specific form for the bulk energy-momentum tensor. We address the hierarchy problem in the ...

The cosmology of a brane-universe embedded in a higher dimensional bulk spacetime presents some peculiarities not seen in ordinary (3+1) dimensional gravity. I summarize the current understanding, with emphasis on the suggestion by Randall and Sundrum that the bulk is 5-D anti-deSitter space, leading to a solution of the weak scale hierarchy problem.

A generalized Randall sundrum model in six dimensional bulk is studied in presence of non-flat 3-branes at the orbifold fixed points. The warp factors for this model is determined in terms of multiple moduli and brane cosmological constant. We show that the requirements of a vanishingly small cosmological constant on the visible brane along with non-hierarchical moduli, each with scale close to Planck length, lead to a scenario where the 3-branes can not have any intermediate...

Warped extra dimension claims remarkable success: solving the hierarchy problem; explaining hierarchies in particle phenomenology; yielding standard cosmology, plus interesting nonstandard scenarios. Yet it has marked shortcomings: we over-rely on a single toy model, Randall-Sundrum; we treat matter and gravity in an ad hoc, asymmetric way; and we conceptualize integrated 4D effective field theory inconsistently. I here construct sounder 4D effective field theories for matter...
