In this paper we construct monodromy representing generalized special Lagrangian torus fibrations for Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in toric varieties near the large complex limit.

In this article, we consider Cayley deformations of a compact complex surface in a Calabi--Yau four-fold. We will study complex deformations of compact complex submanifolds of Calabi--Yau manifolds with a view to explaining why complex and Cayley deformations of a compact complex surface are the same. We in fact prove that the moduli space of complex deformations of any compact complex embedded submanifold of a Calabi--Yau manifold is a smooth manifold.

We describe the proof that the period map from the Torelli space of Calabi-Yau manifolds to the classifying space of polarized Hodge structures is an embedding. The proof is based on the constructions of holomorphic affine structure on the Teichm\"uller space and Hodge metric completion of the Torelli space. A canonical global holomorphic section of the holomorphic $(n, 0)$ class on the Teichm\"uller space is constructed.

This is an expository article on the Gross--Siebert approach to mirror symmetry and its interactions with the Strominger--Yau--Zaslow conjecture from a topological perspective.

We describe in purely combinatorial terms dual pairs of integral affine structures on spheres which come from the conjectural metric collapse of mirror families of Calabi-Yau toric hypersurfaces. The same structures arise on the base of a special Lagrangian torus fibration in the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow conjecture. We study the topological torus fibration in the large complex structure limit and show that it coincides with our combinatorial model.

These notes, based on a graduate course I gave at Hamburg University in 2003, are intended to students having basic knowledges of differential geometry. Their main purpose is to provide a quick and accessible introduction to different aspects of K\"{a}hler geometry.

Using the algebraic geometric approach of Berenstein et {\it al} (hep-th/005087 and hep-th/009209) and methods of toric geometry, we study non commutative (NC) orbifolds of Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in toric varieties with discrete torsion. We first develop a new way of getting complex $d$ mirror Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces $H_{\Delta}^{\ast d}$ in toric manifolds $M_{\Delta }^{\ast (d+1)}$ with a $C^{\ast r}$ action and analyze the general group of the discrete isometries of $H_...

For complete intersection Calabi-Yau manifolds in toric varieties, Gross and Haase-Zharkov have given a conjectural combinatorial description of the special Lagrangian torus fibrations whose existence was predicted by Strominger, Yau and Zaslow. We present a geometric version of this construction, generalizing an earlier conjecture of the first author.

We extend the construction of Calabi-Yau manifolds to hypersurfaces in non-Fano toric varieties, requiring the use of certain Laurent defining polynomials, and explore the phases of the corresponding gauged linear sigma models. The associated non-reflexive and non-convex polytopes provide a generalization of Batyrev's original work, allowing us to construct novel pairs of mirror models. We showcase our proposal for this generalization by examining Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces in ...

In this paper we discuss recent progress on the modularity of Calabi-Yau varieties. We focus mostly on the case of surfaces and threefolds. We will also discuss some progress on the structure of the L-function in connection with mirror symmetry. Finally, we address some questions and open problems.
