In these lectures, which are written at an elementary and pedagogical level, we discuss general aspects of (single) instantons in SU(N_c) Yang-Mills theory, and then specialize to the case of N = 4 supersymmetry and the large N_c limit. We construct infinite number of conserved nonlocal charges for type IIB superstring on the AdS5xS5 space in the conformal gauge without assuming any kappa gauge fixing, and show that they satisfy the super Yangian algebra. We study the four-point function of the lowest-lying half-BPS operators in the ${\cal N} =4$ $SU(N)$ super-Yang-Mills theory and its relation to the flat-space four-graviton amplitude in type IIB superstring theory. We work in a large-$N$ expansion in which the complexified Yang-Mills coupling $\tau$ is fixed. We show some implications of the approach to AdS/CFT correspondence based on Type IIB string in the flat space-time with D3-branes proposed in our previous paper. We discuss a correspondence for high energy scattering amplitudes of N=4 super-Yang-Mills proposed recently. We also discuss AdS/CFT correspondence at finite temperature. Our approach provides clear understanding of these issues.

We investigate gauge/gravity duality for gauge theories in de Sitter space. More precisely, we study a five-dimensional consistent truncation of type IIB supergravity, which encompasses a wide variety of gravity duals of strongly coupled gauge theories, including the Maldacena-Nunez solution and its walking deformations.
