Regarded as the integrable generalization of Camassa-Holm (CH) equation, the CH equation with self-consistent sources (CHESCS) is derived. The Lax representation of the CHESCS is presented. The conservation laws for CHESCS are constructed. The peakon solution, N-soliton, N-cuspon, N-positon and N-negaton solutions of CHESCS are obtained by using Darboux transformation and the method of variation of constants.

We introduce a bi-Hamiltonian hierarchy on the loop-algebra of sl(2) endowed with a suitable Poisson pair. It gives rise to the usual CH hierarchy by means of a bi-Hamiltonian reduction, and its first nontrivial flow provides a 3-component extension of the CH equation.

In this paper we introduce a two-component system, depending on a parameter $b$, which generalises the Camassa-Holm ($b=1$) and Novikov equations ($b=2$). By investigating its Lie algebra of classical and higher symmetries up to order $3$, we found that for $b\neq 2$ the system admits a $3$-dimensional algebra of point symmetries and apparently no higher symmetries, whereas for $b=2$ it has a $6$-dimensional algebra of point symmetries and also higher order symmetries. Also w...

We consider the integrable Camassa--Holm equation on the line with positive initial data rapidly decaying at infinity. On such phase space we construct a one parameter family of integrable hierarchies which preserves the mixed spectrum of the associated string spectral problem. This family includes the CH hierarchy. We demonstrate that the constructed flows can be interpreted as Hamiltonian flows on the space of Weyl functions of the associated string spectral problem. The co...

We consider a new partial differential equation, of a similar form to the Camassa-Holm shallow water wave equation, which was recently obtained by Degasperis and Procesi using the method of asymptotic integrability. We prove the exact integrability of the new equation by constructing its Lax pair, and we explain its connection with a negative flow in the Kaup-Kupershmidt hierarchy via a reciprocal transformation. The infinite sequence of conserved quantities is derived togeth...

We consider an integrable generalization of the nonlinear Schr\"odinger (NLS) equation that was recently derived by one of the authors using bi-Hamiltonian methods. This equation is related to the NLS equation in the same way that the Camassa Holm equation is related to the KdV equation. In this paper we: (a) Use the bi-Hamiltonian structure to write down the first few conservation laws. (b) Derive a Lax pair. (c) Use the Lax pair to solve the initial value problem. (d) Analy...

We classify generalised Camassa-Holm type equations which possess infinite hierarchies of higher symmetries. We show that the obtained equations can be treated as negative flows of integrable quasi-linear scalar evolution equations of orders 2, 3 and 5. We present the corresponding Lax representations or linearisation transformations for these equations. Some of the obtained equations seem to be new.

In this paper, we study an integrable system with both quadratic and cubic nonlinearity: $m_t=bu_x+1/2k_1[m(u^2-u^2_x)]_x+1/2k_2(2m u_x+m_xu)$, $m=u-u_{xx}$, where $b$, $k_1$ and $k_2$ are arbitrary constants. This model is kind of a cubic generalization of the Camassa-Holm (CH) equation: $m_t+m_xu+2mu_x=0$. The equation is shown integrable with its Lax pair, bi-Hamiltonian structure, and infinitely many conservation laws. In the case of $b=0$, the peaked soliton (peakon) and...

We present a new integrable partial differential equation found by Vladimir Novikov. Like the Camassa-Holm and Degasperis-Procesi equations, this new equation admits peaked soliton (peakon) solutions, but it has nonlinear terms that are cubic, rather than quadratic. We give a matrix Lax pair for V. Novikov's equation, and show how it is related by a reciprocal transformation to a negative flow in the Sawada-Kotera hierarchy. Infinitely many conserved quantities are found, as ...

We show that the bi-Hamiltonian structures of the Camassa-Holm and Harry Dym hierarchies can be obtained by applying a reduction process to a simple Poisson pair defined on the loop algebra of $\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{R})$. The reduction process is a bi-Hamiltonian reduction, that can be canonically performed on every bi-Hamiltonian manifold.
