The theoretical investigations at ITEP in the years 1945-1958 are reviewed. There are exposed the most important theoretical results, obtained in the following branches of physics: 1) the theory of nuclear reactors on thermal neutrons; 2) the hydrogen bomb project ("Tube" in USSR and "Classical Super" in USA); 3) radiation theory; ~4) low temperature physics; 5) quantum electrodynamics and quantum field theories; 6) parity violation in weak interactions, the theory of $\beta$...

This article is an attempt to review 50 years of high-energy cosmic particle physics at the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It is written by an outsider whose scientific career, to a large part, was formed by collaborating with INR scientists in the late 1980s and 1990s. The review covers the fields of cosmic-ray, gamma-ray and high-energy neutrino physics. The main focus will be on INR's large infrastructures in the Baksan Valley and at Lak...

DANSS is a highly segmented 1m^3 plastic scintillator detector. It's 2500 scintillator strips have a Gd loaded reflective cover. Light is collected with 3 wave length shifting fibers per strip and read out with 50 PMTs and 2500 SiPMs. The DANSS will be installed under the industrial 3 GW reactor of the Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant at distances varying from 9.7m to 12.2m from the reactor core. Tests of the detector prototype DANSSino demonstrated that in spite of a small size (...

We review the status of the Standard Model theory of neutron beta decay. Particular emphasis is put on the recent developments in the electroweak radiative corrections. Given that some existing approaches give slightly different results, we thoroughly review the origin of discrepancies, and provide our recommended value for the radiative correction to the neutron and nuclear decay rates. The use of dispersion relation, lattice Quantum Chromodynamics and effective field theory...

We present new results of the DANSS experiment on the searches for sterile neutrinos. They are based on 2.1 million of inverse beta decay events collected at 10.7, 11.7 and 12.7 meters from the reactor core of the 3.1 GW Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant in Russia. This data sample is 2.5 times larger than the data sample in the previous DANSS publication. The search for the sterile neutrinos is performed using the ratio of $\bar\nu_e$ spectra at two distances. This method is very ...

We argue that the reaction mechanism for the coherent pion production is not known with sufficient accuracy to determine the neutron radius of 208Pb to the claimed precision of 0.03 fm.

We present a short overview of the importance of the study of "Neutrino Interactions in the Intermediate and High Energy Region", with an introduction to the neutrinos and a very brief description about the collection of invited articles.

We briefly remind references and arguments, already discussed in the past, which confute erroneous claims in arXiv:1210.5501.

The mechanism of beta decay in nature is not understood yet. Mirrored energy spectra of electron and antineutrino can clarify the situation. A special experiment is needed to measure antineutrino spectrum from known beta-decaying isotope to compare it with the beta one. One of ongoing experiments with large volume detector can be chosen to make the experiment. Another possibility is to make a special experiment close to a powerful source of mixture of known beta-decaying isot...
