The magnetic-dipole form factor and the ratios R_EM and R_SM for the gamma* N -> Delta(1232)3/2}+ transition are predicted within light-front relativistic quark model up to photon virtuality Q2=12 GeV2. We also predict the helicity amplitudes of the gamma* N -> Delta(1600)3/2+ transition assuming the Delta(1600)3/2+ is the first radial excitation of the ground state Delta(1232)3/2+.

The extraction of the Coulomb quadrupole to magnetic dipole ratio from a p(e_pol,e'p_pol)pi^0 measurement is discussed. Preliminary results from further asymmetry measurements with polarized and unpolarized electron beam indicate that the imaginary background is well under control in the MAID2000 parameterization, but not the real (Born-) amplitudes.

We present parametrizations of the $\gamma^\ast N \to N(1535)1/2^-$, $\gamma^\ast N \to N(1520)3/2^-$ and $\gamma^\ast N \to \Delta(1232)3/2^+$ transition amplitudes that are compatible with the analytic constraints at the pseudothreshold (Siegert's theorem). The presented parametrizations also provide a fair description of the experimental data. For the case of the $\gamma^\ast N \to \Delta(1232)3/2^+$ transition, we discuss how the pion cloud parametrizations of the electri...

The process $ep \to e^{\prime}p^{\prime}\pi^0$ has been measured at $Q^2$ = 6.4 and 7.7 GeV/c$^2$)$^2$ in Jefferson Lab's Hall C. Unpolarized differential cross sections are reported in the virtual photon-proton center of mass frame considering the process $\gamma^{\ast}p \to p^{\prime}\pi^0$. Various details relating to the background subtractions, radiative corrections and systematic errors are discussed. The usefulness of the data with regard to the measurement of the elec...

The Dubna-Mainz-Taipei dynamical model for pion electromagnetic production, which can describe well the existing data from threshold up to 1 GeV photon lab energy, is presented and used to analyze the recent precision data in the $\Delta$ region. We find that, within our model, the bare Delta is almost spherical while the physical Delta is oblate. The deformation is almost saturated by the pion cloud effects. We further find that up to Q^2 = 4.0 (GeV/c)^2, the extracted helic...

We present estimates from the covariant spectator quark model for the electromagnetic transition form factors for the resonances $N(1440)\frac{1}{2}^+$, $N(1535)\frac{1}{2}^-$, $N(1520)\frac{3}{2}^-$ and $\Delta(1232)\frac{3}{2}^+$, at intermediate and large square momentum transfer ($Q^2$). The calculations associated to the $N(1440)\frac{1}{2}^+$, $N(1535)\frac{1}{2}^-$ and $N(1520)\frac{3}{2}^-$ states are based exclusively on the parametrizations derived for the nucleon. ...

We examine the large-$N_c$ relations which express the electromagnetic $N$-to-$\Delta$ transition quantities in terms of the electromagnetic properties of the nucleon. These relations are based on the known large-$N_c$ relation between the $N\to \Delta$ electric quadrupole moment and the neutron charge radius, and a newly derived large-$N_c$ relation between the electric quadrupole ($E2$) and Coulomb quadrupole ($C2$) transitions. Extending these relations to finite, but smal...

We calculate the electric quadrupole to magnetic dipole transition ratio $E2/M1$ for the reaction $\gamma N \ra \Delta(1232)$ in the chiral quark soliton model. The calculated $E2/M1$ ratio is in a good agreement with the very new experimental data. We obtain non-zero negative value for the electric quadrupole $N-\Delta$ transition moment, which suggests an oblate deformed charge structure of the nucleon or/and the delta isobar. Other observables related to this quantity, nam...

We calculate the neutral pion photoproduction on the proton near threshold in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory, including the $\Delta(1232)$ resonance as an explicit degree of freedom, up to chiral order $p^{7/2}$ in the $\delta$ counting. We compare our results with recent low-energy data from the Mainz Microtron for angular distributions and photon asymmetries. The convergence of the chiral series of the covariant approach is found to improve substantially with t...

The dynamical model developed in [Phys. Rev. C 54, 2660 (1996)] has been applied to investigate the pion electroproduction reactions on the nucleon. It is found that the model can describe to a very large extent the recent data of p(e,e' pi^0) reaction from Jefferson Laboratory and MIT-Bates. The extracted magnetic dipole(M1), electric dipole(E2), and Coulomb(C2) strengths of the gamma N -> Delta transition are presented. It is found that the C2/M1 ratio drops significantly w...
