We report the results of two Chandra ACIS-S observations from February and August 2003 of the highly X-ray variable Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxy RX J2217.9--5941. Observations spanning the time from the ROSAT All Sky Survey (RASS) through an ASCA observation in 1998 indicate apparently monotonically decreasing flux by a factor of 30. We report on the first XMM-Newton observation of the highly X-ray variable, radio-quiet, Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxy IRAS 13224-3809 obtained during the guaranteed time programme with a 64 ks exposure. The most remarkable spectral feature is a sharp drop, by a factor ~5, in the spectrum at 8 keV. This is a similar, but stronger, feature to that which we found in 1H0707-495. We report on AGN with extremely soft X-ray spectra observed with ROSAT. From their optical emission lines these objects are classified as narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLS1), almost all with extremely large Fe II/H-beta ratios and relatively narrow optical lines of hydrogen. Our results are based on a systematic study of 46 NLS1. We find that NLS1 have generally steeper soft X-ray continuum slopes than normal Seyfert 1s, and there may exist an anticorrelation between 0.1-2....

Narrow Line Seyfert 1 (NLSy1) galaxies are a peculiar class of type 1 AGN (BLSy1). The X-ray properties of individual objects belonging to this class are often extreme and associated with accretion at high Eddington ratios. Here we present a study on a sample of 14 NLSy1 galaxies selected at hard X-rays (> 20 keV) from the fourth INTEGRAL/IBIS catalogue. RX J0134.2-4258 is one of the most super-Eddington narrow-line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxies, on which we conducted a monitoring campaign from radio to X-rays. In this paper, we present a detailed analysis of its optical/UV spectra and broadband spectral energy distribution (SED). RX J0947.0+4721 is a newly discovered example of a narrow-line Seyfert 1 type object with a quasar level luminosity (M_B = -24.8). It was detected in the ROSAT All-Sky Survey (RASS) and later in 17 pointed observations of the ROSAT Position sensitive Proportional Counter (PSPC). We present results from several XMM-Newton observations of the radio loud Narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy (NLS1) PKS 0558-504. We find evidence for strong and persistent X-ray variability, both on short and long time-scales.
