The study of electron-positron collisions at center-of-mass energies corresponding to charmonium production has reached new levels of sensitivity thanks to experiments by the BES and CLEO Collaborations. Final states $\gamma P$, where $P$ is a pseudoscalar meson such as $\pi^0$, $\eta$, and $\eta'$ can arise either from charmonium decays or in the continuum through a virtual photon: $e^+ e^- \to \gamma^* \to \gamma P$. Estimates of this latter process are given at center-of-m...

The form factors for the transitions pi-photon, eta-photon, eta'-photon and etac-photon are analyzed within the modified perturbative approach in which quark transverse degrees of freedom are retained. The results for the form factors are compared to experiment in detail. As compared to previous calculations within the same approach only little modifications of the meson distribution amplitudes are required in general in order to achieve agreement with experiment. Only for th...

It is reported on predictions for the $\pi$-$\gamma$ transition form factor obtained within a perturbative approach which includes transverse momentum effects and Sudakov corrections. The results clearly favor distribution amplitudes close to the asymptotic form, $\sim x_1x_2$, and disfavor distribution amplitudes which are strongly concentrated in the end-point regions. Applications of that approach to the $\eta$-$\gamma$ and $\eta^\prime$-$\gamma$ transition form factors ar...

We report results on the $\pi$-$\gamma$ transition form factor obtained within the hard scattering approach including transverse momentum effects and Sudakov corrections. The results clearly favor distribution amplitudes close to the asymptotic form, $\sim x_1x_2$, and disfavor distribution amplitudes which are strongly concentrated in the end-point regions. This observation is backed by information on the elastic form factor of the pion and on its valence quark distribution ...

The meson-photon transition form factors $\gamma\gamma^*\to P$ ($P$ stands for $\pi$, $\eta$ and $\eta'$) provide strong constraints on the distribution amplitudes of the pseudoscalar mesons. In this paper, these transition form factors are calculated under the light-cone perturbative QCD approach, in which both the valence and non-valence quarks' contributions have been taken into consideration. To be consistent, an unified wavefunction model is adopted to analyze these form...

The exact form of the form-factor associated with a meson-photon-photon vertex is not known. Different suggestions exist, based on constraints from QCD and on recent experiments. Four different form-factors are studied in this article. We calculate decay rates for the decays $\pi^{0}\to \gamma\gamma$, $\eta\to \gamma e^{+}e^{-}$, $\eta\to \mu^{+}\mu^{-} e^{+}e^{-}$} and $\eta\to e^{+}e^{-} e^{+}e^{-}$ and cross sections for the processes $e^{+}e^{-}\to PS e^{+}e^{-}$, where...

An analysis of all available data (CELLO, CLEO, \babar) in the range $[1\div 40]$ GeV$^2$ for the pion-photon transition form factor in terms of light-cone sum rules with next-to-leading-order accuracy is discussed, including twist-four contributions and next-to-next-to-leading order and twist-six corrections---the latter two via uncertainties. The antithetic trend between the \babar data for the $\gamma^*\gamma\pi^0$ and those for the $\gamma^*\gamma\eta(\eta')$ transition i...

A short review of experimental and theoretical results on the large angle cross sections \gamma\gamma --> {two mesons} and the form factors \gamma*\gamma --> P={pi, \eta, \eta'} is given.

The KLOE results on the measurement of the transition form factors of the eta and pi0 mesons in phi Dalitz decays are presented, and the determination of the Gamma(eta->gamma gamma) in gamma gamma processes is also reported. The prospects for gamma gamma physics of the new data-taking, started in November 2014 with the upgraded detector, are reviewed.

We present measurements of the gamma gamma* --> pi0 transition form factor for the momentum transfer range Q^2=4-40 GeV^2 and the gamma gamma* --> eta_c transition form factor for the range Q^2=2-50 GeV^2. The results of the measurement of the eta_c mass, total and two-photon widths are also presented.
