We present results for the photoproduction of $\omega$ and $\phi$ meson in the nucleon isotopic channles. A recently developed quark model with an effective Lagrangian is employed to account for the non-diffractive {\it s}- and {\it u}-channel processes; the diffractive feature arising from the {\it natural} parity exchange is accounted for by the {\it t}-channel pomeron exchange, while the {\it unnatural} parity exchange is accounted for by the {\it t}-channel pion exchange....

Within the meson exchange model we study $\omega$ meson photoproduction at energies above the s channel resonance region. Different model prescriptions for the $\omega{NN}$ vertex function are investigated imposing gauge invariance as well as crossing symmetry. The calculations reproduce the energy dependence of the differential $\omega$ photoproduction cross sections at moderate $|u|$ for $E_\gamma{\le}4.7$ GeV, which previously were discussed as an indication of the hard in...

We have investigated exclusive photoproduction of light vector mesons ($\omega$, $\rho$ and $\phi$) on the nucleon at low energies. In order to explore the questions concerning the so-called missing nucleon resonances, we first establish the predictions from a model based on the Pomeron and meson exchange mechanisms. We have also explored the contributions due to the mechanisms involving $s$- and $u$-channel intermediate nucleon state. Some discrepancies found at the energies...

A systematic study of the production of omega-mesons in proton-proton-collisions was carried out in a kinematically complete experiment at three excess energies(epsilon= 92, 128, 173MeV). Both protons were detected using the large-acceptance COSY-TOF spectrometer at an external beam line at the Cooler Synchrotron COSY at Forschungszentrum J\"ulich. The total cross section, angular distributions of both omega-mesons and protons were measured and presented in various reference ...

We apply the effective Lagrangian approach to investigate the role of the nucleon resonances in $\omega$ meson photoproduction at energies near the threshold. The resonant amplitudes are calculated from effective Lagrangians with the gamma NN* and omega NN* coupling constants fixed by the empirical helicity amplitudes and the vector meson dominance model. The contributions from the nucleon resonances are found to be significant in changing the differential cross sections in a...

The $\pi^-p \to e^+e^- n$ and $\pi^+n \to e^+e^- p$ reaction cross sections are calculated below and in the vicinity of the vector meson ($\rho^0$, $\omega$) production threshold. These processes are largely responsible for the emission of $e^+e^-$ pairs in pion-nucleus reactions and contribute to the dilepton spectra observed in relativistic heavy ion collisions. They are dominated by the decay of low-lying baryon resonances into vector meson-nucleon channels. The vector mes...

The PHENIX experiment at RHIC has measured the invariant cross section for omega-meson production at mid-rapidity in the transverse momentum range 2.5 < p_T < 9.25 GeV/c in p+p and d+Au collisions at sqrt(s_NN) = 200 GeV. Measurements in two decay channels (omega --> pi^0 pi^+ pi^- and omega --> pi^0 gamma) yield consistent results, and the reconstructed omega mass agrees with the accepted value within the p_T range of the measurements. The omega/pi^0 ratio is found to be 0.8...

We study the production of $K^+, \rho, \omega$ and $\phi$ mesons in $p + ^{12}C$ reactions on the basis of empirical spectral functions. The high momentum, high removal energy part of the spectral function is found to be negligible in all cases close to the absolute threshold. Furthermore, the two-step process ($pN \rightarrow \pi N N; \pi N \rightarrow N + K^+, \rho, \omega, \phi$) dominates the cross section at threshold energies in line with earlier calculations based on t...

The feasibility to study the in-medium properties of the omega meson in photon induced reactions on nuclei is investigated by means of a semiclassical transport model. The calculations are dedicated to an experiment presently being analyzed by the TAPS/Crystal Barrel collaborations. A full coupled-channel treatment of final state interactions allows a quantitative analysis of the influence of absorption and elastic scattering of the produced hadrons and likewise the applicati...

Recent experimental observation by the CBELSA/TAPS collaboration indicates a downward mass shift of the $\omega$ meson when put into a nuclear medium. Therefore it is worthwhile to take a look at theoretical approaches that can describe this mass shift. One such hadronic model was introduced by Klingl et al. (Nucl.Phys. A650:299-312). We will demonstrate that the heavy baryon limit approximation used there has no justification and returns wrong results. The results obtained w...
