The exclusive production cross sections for $\omega$ and $\phi$ mesons have been measured in proton-proton reactions at $p_{lab}=3.67$ GeV/c. The observed $\phi/\omega$ cross section ratio is $(3.8\pm0.2^{+1.2}_{-0.9})\times 10^{-3}$. We present results for the $p p \to p p \omega$ reaction studied by considering two different scenarios: with and without the inclusion of nucleon resonance excitations. The recently measured angular distribution by the COSY-TOF Collaboration at an excess energy of $Q = 173$ MeV and the energy dependence of the total cross section data for $\pi^- p \to \omega n$ are used to calibrate the model parameters. We evaluate three meson doorway mechanisms for nucleon-antinucleon annihilation at rest for the first time. Detailed results are presented for the final state phi pi0 originating from the 3S1 initial state and for the phi rho channel originating from 1S0. The results presented also include the improved contributions from two meson doorway states and from the tree diagrams. For all the channels considered a consistent explanation of large and small OZI violations emerges.

The study of the $\pi N\to \rho^0 N$ and $\pi N \to \omega N$ amplitudes below and close to the vector meson production threshold ($1.4<\sqrt s <1.8$ GeV)reveals a rich structure arising from the presence of baryon resonances in this energy range. The production of pseudo scalar, Eeta, Eta-prime, and vector, Omega, Rho, Phi, mesons in NN collisions at threshold-near energies is analyzed within a covariant effective meson-nucleon theory. The pp->pp phi reaction has been studied at the Cooler Synchrotron COSY-Juelich, using the internal beam and ANKE facility. Total cross sections have been determined at three excess energies epsilon near the production threshold. The PHENIX experiment at RHIC measured the omega-meson production in the range of pT from 2.5 GeV/c to 9.5 GeV/c in p+p and d+Au collision systems at sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV. We present the consistent results of two independent measurements in decay channels omega-->pi^{0}pi^{+}pi^{-}$ and omega-->pi^{0}gamma. The omega/pi^{0} ratio was found to be 0.90+/-0.06. It is shown that the relative sign between the $NN\omega$ and $\pi\rho\omega$ coupling constants can be determined most sensitively from $\omega$ production processes in $NN$ collisions. One-loop corrections to $\omega$ photoproduction near threshold have been investigated by using the approximation that all relevant transition amplitudes are calculated from the tree diagrams of effective Lagrangians. We propose a simple meson-exchange model of the photoproduction of $\rho$- and $\omega$-mesons off protons near threshold ($E_\gamma$ less than 2 GeV). This model provides a good description of the available data and implies a large $\rho$-nucleon interaction in the scalar channel ($\sigma$-exchange).
